Today, we honor the life and sacrifice of Specialist Four Henry Lee Palmer, a brave U.S. Army Soldier who gave his life in service to our country on this day in 1969 during the Vietnam War. He was just 20 years old.

A resident of Madisonville, Kentucky, SP4 Palmer served with unwavering commitment as a Wheeled Tractor Operator (MOS 62L20) with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 15th Engineer Battalion, 9th Infantry Division, United States Army Vietnam. 

At the time of his death, SP4 Palmer was deployed in the Dinh Tuong Province of South Vietnam. His body was recovered, and his memory has been preserved with honor ever since.

Beginning his tour in Vietnam on Aug. 16, 1968, SP4 Palmer’s service exemplified the courage and devotion of a Soldier who upheld the values of honor, courage, and commitment to the very end.

SP4 Palmer’s service and sacrifice are permanently memorialized on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, at Panel W33, Line 87, and here at the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Today, we honor the life and sacrifice of Staff Sergeant Istvan Molnar, a brave U.S. Army Soldier who gave his life in service to our country on this day in 1968 during the Vietnam War. He was just 30 years old.

A resident of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, SSG Molnar served with unwavering commitment as an Infantry Operations and Intelligence Specialist (MOS 11F4H) with Advisory Team 98, Headquarters, Military Assistance Command Vietnam Advisors, Military Assistance Command Vietnam.

At the time of his death, SSG Molnar was deployed in the Bien Hoa Province of South Vietnam. His body was recovered, and his memory has been preserved with honor ever since.

Beginning his tour in Vietnam on May 14, 1967, SSG Molnar’s service exemplified the courage and devotion of a Soldier who upheld the values of honor, courage, and commitment to the very end.

SSG Molnar’s service and sacrifice are permanently memorialized on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, at Panel 36E, Line 51, and here at the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

A resident of Crescent Springs, Kentucky, PFC Newberry served with unwavering commitment as a Rifleman (MOS 0311) with Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division, III Marine Amphibious Force. 

At the time of his death, PFC Newberry was deployed in the Quang Nam Province of South Vietnam. His body was recovered, and his memory has been preserved with honor ever since.

Beginning his tour in Vietnam on Dec. 14, 1968, PFC Newberry’s service exemplified the courage and devotion of a Marine who upheld the values of honor, courage, and commitment to the very end.

PFC Newberry’s service and sacrifice are permanently memorialized on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, at Panel W34, Line 78, and here at the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

A resident of Barlow, Kentucky, Cpl Stone served with unwavering commitment as an Infantryman (MOS 11B10) with Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 11th Infantry Brigade, Americal Division, United States Army Vietnam.

At the time of his death, Cpl Stone was deployed in the Quang Ngai Province of South Vietnam. His body was recovered, and his memory has been preserved with honor ever since.

Beginning his tour in Vietnam on Aug. 20, 1968, Cpl Stone’s service exemplified the courage and devotion of a Soldier who upheld the values of honor, courage, and commitment to the very end.

Cpl Stone’s service and sacrifice are permanently memorialized on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, at Panel W34, Line 34, and here at the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

A resident of Corinth, Kentucky, Cpl Wilson served with unwavering commitment as an Aircraft Cryptographic Systems Technician (MOS 6422) with Marine Helicopter Squadron 363, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Amphibious Force. 

At the time of his death, Cpl Wilson was deployed in the Quang Ngai Province of South Vietnam. His body was recovered, and his memory has been preserved with honor ever since.

Though the start date of his service in Vietnam is not recorded, Cpl Wilson’s service exemplified the courage and devotion of a Marine who upheld the values of honor, courage, and commitment to the very end.

Cpl Wilson’s service and sacrifice are permanently memorialized on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, at Panel 14E, Line 13, and here at the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
