Today, we honor the life and sacrifice of Sergeant William Larry Law, a brave U.S. Army Soldier who gave his life in service to our country on this day in 1968 during the Vietnam War. He was just 21 years old.

A resident of Greenup, Kentucky, Sgt. Law served with unwavering commitment as a Cannon Crewmember (MOS 13B40) with Charlie Battery, 1st Battalion, 7th Artillery, 1st Infantry Division, United States Army, Vietnam.

At the time of his death, Sgt. Law was deployed in the Binh Duong Province of South Vietnam. His body was recovered, and his memory has been preserved with honor ever since.

Beginning his tour in Vietnam on Jan. 29, 1968, Sgt. Law’s service exemplified the courage and devotion of a Soldier who upheld the values of honor, courage, and commitment to the very end.

Sgt. Law’s service and sacrifice are permanently memorialized on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, at Panel W55, Line 14, and here at the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Today, we honor the life and sacrifice of Private First Class Darrel Wayne Maynard, a brave U.S. Army Soldier who gave his life in service to our country on this day in 1968 during the Vietnam War. He was just 22 years old.

A resident of Scottsville, Kentucky, PFC Maynard served with unwavering commitment as an Infantryman (MOS 11B10) with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division, United States Army, Vietnam.

At the time of his death, PFC Maynard was deployed in the Thua Thien Province of South Vietnam. His body was recovered, and his memory has been preserved with honor ever since.

Beginning his tour in Vietnam on May 3, 1968, PFC Maynard’s service exemplified the courage and devotion of a Soldier who upheld the values of honor, courage, and commitment to the very end.

PFC Maynard’s service and sacrifice are permanently memorialized on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, at Panel W57, Line 20, and here at the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

A resident of Philpot, Kentucky, SP5 Millay served with unwavering commitment with 145th Airlift Platoon, Bravo Company, 25th Aviation Battalion, 25th Infantry Division, Military Assistance Command, Vietnam. 

At the time of his death, SP5 Millay was deployed in the Binh Dinh Province of South Vietnam. His body was recovered, and his memory has been preserved with honor ever since.

Though the beginning of his tour in Vietnam is not recorded, SP5 Millay’s service exemplified the courage and devotion of a Soldier who upheld the values of honor, courage, and commitment to the very end.

SP5 Millay’s service and sacrifice are permanently memorialized on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, at Panel 1E, Line 104, and here at the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

A resident of Louisville, Kentucky, Cpl. Hettich served with unwavering commitment as a  Medical NCO (MOS 91B20) with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 22nd Infantry, 25th Infantry Division, United States Army, Vietnam. 

At the time of his death, Cpl. Hettich was deployed in the Tay Ninh Province of South Vietnam. His body was recovered, and his memory has been preserved with honor ever since.

Beginning his tour in Vietnam on Dec. 31, 1967, Cpl. Hettich’s service exemplified the courage and devotion of a Soldier who upheld the values of honor, courage, and commitment to the very end.

Cpl. Hettich’s service and sacrifice are permanently memorialized on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, at Panel 49E, Line 32, and here at the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
