Today, we honor the life and sacrifice of Petty Officer Third Class James Harold Daulton, a brave U.S. Navy Sailor who gave his life in service to our country on this day in 1966 during the Vietnam War. He was just 26 years old.
A resident of Sloans Valley, Kentucky, PO3 Daulton served with unwavering commitment as an Equipment Operator (MOS EOH3) with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 62, 3rd Naval Construction Brigade, United States Naval Forces Vietnam.
At the time of his death, PO3 Daulton was deployed in the Quang Tri Province of South Vietnam. His body was recovered, and his memory has been preserved with honor ever since.
Though his tour’s exact start date is unrecorded, PO3 Daulton’s service exemplified the courage and devotion of a Sailor who upheld the values of honor, courage, and commitment to the very end.
PO3 Daulton’s service and sacrifice are permanently memorialized on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, at Panel 13E, Line 43, and here at the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
